It was a true privilege for open to be appointed as the agency to evolve and redesign the emblem for Soroptimist International, especially at such a historic moment in their journey.
The original emblem had represented the organisation for 100 years, and as Soroptimist International approached its Centenary, there was a shared sense of responsibility and honour in crafting a new visual identity that both respected its legacy and reflected its future ambitions.
The project was deeply collaborative, with a global committee of members offering insights and perspectives from across the organisation. Together, we worked to create a modern, meaningful, and digitally adaptable emblem that would serve for decades to come.
The unveiling of the new emblem to 1,800 delegates from around the world in Dublin was a landmark moment, marking the start of a bold new chapter for the organisation.
Following this, open was proud to extend our partnership by designing and developing a new website. This digital overhaul not only brought the new branding to life but also reimagined the site’s content management and user experience from the ground up. With a more intuitive structure, clearer communication, and improved accessibility, the new website now better supports the organisation’s global mission and provides a more engaging and effective platform for members and visitors.
The convention, and brand reveal, was held at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). The whole venue was allocated to Soroptimist International for the prestigious four day event.
This is the view point of preparation for speaking to the 1,800 delegates from around the world, to say what a privilege and pleasure it was to be responsible for the design of their new Emblem.
A testimonial
At Soroptimist International (www.soroptimistinternational.org) it has been our pleasure and privilege to appoint Open Design Agency for two major projects during the last 2 years to serve our global membership. Working with Chris, a notable and talented designer and Christian, a real guru of web design, has been a professional experience from inception to implementation.
The first project, modernising our 100-year old Emblem, presented the significant challenge of retaining core elements, yet designing an image of a woman who is representative of all women in the 21st century. Step two of this challenge was to design a complimentary branding portfolio. Our internationally based Board were delighted that Chris completely fulfilled these challenges, consulting with us at every stage, demonstrating expertise throughout with research and knowledge of our complex organisation, in order to deliver precisely what we needed.
The results speak for themselves. Our brand is modernised, clear and recognisable. It is suitable for use across all media, applications and most importantly to Soroptimist International and its members replicates well on insignia and branded goods. The assets Chris designed are invaluable, providing us with the opportunity to encourage our members around the world to use the new Emblem and branding, helping us to achieve increased brand recognition globally.
The second project awarded to Open Design following a robust tendering process, was to design our new website. Chris played a key role in elevating our website by creating new designs that gave it a fresh, modern feel. His work brought our brand to life in a way that truly resonates with our audience. The designs are not only visually appealing but also thoughtfully aligned with our mission and values. He has a strong eye for aesthetics and user experience, which combined with his creative approach helps us to stand out while maintaining clarity and professionalism. The result is a polished, engaging online presence that we are proud of.
Chris’ ability to translate our ideas into clean, effective visuals made a huge impact, and we’ve received great feedback on the look and feel of the site since the redesign. His design work has added real value to our organisation. He worked extremely well with web developer, Christian to ensure a collaborative and effective process was in place when building our new website.
Working together to understand and respond to the requirements of Soroptimist International, Chris and Christian have been a superb team to work with, integrating seamlessly with our team, feeling more like extended team members than an external contractor. A willingness to go the extra mile make them an invaluable support to our work.
Chris is consistently reliable, approachable, and easy to work with. He brings a positive attitude and is always ready to help, often anticipating our needs before we ask. His commitment to our organisation is evident, and we deeply value the trust and professionalism he brings to every interaction. On behalf of Soroptimist International we are delighted to both attest to and recommend the services of Open Design Agency, it is a choice you won’t regret.
